Methyl Hydrazinocarboxylate (Methyl Carbazate)

Methyl hydrazine carboxylate (Methyl carbamate) was used in the preparation of methyl 3-(4-methyl-benzylidene)carbamate. It was also used in the synthesis of imidazo[1,5-d][1,2,4]triazines.

Methyl carbamate that is extremely clean and with a low discoloration inclination is produced from hydrazine as well as dimethyl carbonate when the two reactants are metered at the same time into the first solvent that is initially introduced between -20 and +30deg C. The liquid and the low boiling components are then dewatered under reduced pressure. the second liquid is added to basic methylcarbamate, and this solvent is then distilled away under lower pressure and an inert gas pumped through the methyl carbamate crude present.
